CPSHE

CPSHE at Bishop Ullathorne encompasses Citizenship Education and Personal, Social and Health Education.

Citizenship Education is about enabling students to make their own decisions and to take responsibility for their own lives and their communities. Democracies depend upon citizens who, among other things, are:

  • aware of their rights and responsibilities as citizens

  • informed about the social and political world

  • concerned about the welfare of others

  • articulate in their opinions and arguments

  • capable of having an influence on the world

  • active in their communities

  • responsible for their actions.

Personal, Social and Health Education is a planned programme of learning through which our young people acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to manage their lives. As part of a whole school approach, CPSHE develops the qualities and attributes students need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.

CPSHE helps students to:

  • develop self-confidence and successfully deal with significant life changes

  • have a voice: in the life of their schools, in their communities and in society

  • prepare for the challenges and opportunities of adult and working life.
