Computing is the umbrella under which Information and Communication Technology and Computer Science sit. The new curriculum ensures that students get a grand tour of both subjects during key stage 3. It covers a broad variety of ICT and Computing topics such as creating computer models to predict outcomes and the basics of hardware and software. Programming is also covered using Python and Scratch. Students undertake an investigation into careers which can lead from ICT and Computer Science. We also look at the history of computing, dating back to the Colossus machine used during the second world war, and its impact upon the world as we know it today. We aim to enable our students to:
develop our students as responsible users of technology who understand how to stay safe online
learn from the past and apply this to shaping the digital future through their own digital careers
develop transferable skills
become accountable digital citizens.
